CSS - Cascading Style Sheets - Why should you use them ? How can they benefit you as a web designer ? CSS is much more than just changing the way your text looks, you can control an entire website's look with it. We will discuss the basics of CSS to get you started on the road to building web sites without tables for layout.

We highly recommend the following books for getting started with CSS:
Build Your Own Web Site The Right Way Using HTML & CSS by Ian Lloyd

If you're designing with tables, make the transition to CSS with this book:
HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables Using CSS (Build Your Own) by Dan Shafer

These 2 books by Eric Meyer (www.meyerweb.com) contain exercises to work as you learn:

    • “ Good information, but I think we were sidetracked a little. There were lots of questions about Basic HTML, like 'what is a p<> tag?' indicating that we need to cover those basics of HTML to gain a better understanding of CSS implementation. ”
