"I hope to attend the next meetup."
"The Trio that showed up was perfect for just chilling, talking about work and anything else. It would be cool to see more show up, but the 3 of us still have fun."

You Can't Know Everything and Learn Everything By Yourself
That's why we have friends, mentors, teachers, and in this case a simple meetup group in the Brampton area. I also belong to other meetup groups such as The Design Guild of Toronto Meetup Group, but I wanted to have a get together with a focus on Web Design and Development close by to where I am. So here we are...The Brampton Web Design Meetup Group.

I know there are other Web designers in the area, so decloak and come on out and say hi! I've seen a few nomad-laptop-carrying designers in places such as coffee shop, libraries, and restaurants computing away at their next site design or program. This is a forum where you can drop by and banter with issues that concern you most.
If you don't want to decloak, why not post on the shoutbox below :) (Clicking on the image below will take you to the Web page that will allow you to add a short message)
There Are No Real Expectations...
For this group, I would just request that we follow that famous golden rule. Just be nice. Don't get all tied up in a knot if someone doesn't agree with you or brings out a point that you never thought of at the time. This is a pubic forum, so if any discussions escalates to name calling or harassment, I request you find another way to discuss other than this forum.

Some Things We Can Plan As A Group
The following are just some ideas. They might fly or they might not happen at all. E-mail me (see the left nav bar) if you have any suggestions. Okay, here's a list:
1. Brief 5 Minute Tech Talk Presentations
I believe one of the best ways to learn is to teach it to someone else. So for this one, I thought maybe a short presentation about "How to" do something in a program like Dreamweaver or even note pad.
2. How to Get Clients
Enough said. This one is a biggie and I am sure we all have our techniques and habits on how we go about getting clients and keeping them. Remember, your best next client is the one you already have. I will detail this one a little more.
3. Newbie Nights
A special night where we write down a question and see if anyone in the group knows the answer.
4. Show Your Stuff
This is standard fodder for meetups like this. Every meetup, bring a project(s) that you might want to show to the group for comment, critique, or just to show some of your work. Don't be shy :). Bring print outs if you don't have a laptop. Or bring both if you want.
5. Group Projects
If we're really gung ho about things, maybe we can even try a group Web project...er, ok, we'll talk about that one.
Other Ideas
This part can be anything the group might want to see such as:
* Web Design How To
* Basics of Web Design
* Web Programming with server side scripting Languages such as ASP, PHP, or JSP.
There you have it it. Just some ideas I've had and hopefully will add to as the next few weeks brings about more activity.
