Come, crank out some code with other developers in the area at the Sacramento Web Dev Session! Also known as a "Code Sprint", this is a time to bounce ideas off other people, get immediate feedback on your work, and help others learn.

I will be helping those who wish set up a localhost. Plus starting to build the group website.

Everyone must:
-Bring a Laptop
-Have something to work on
-Be willing to help others

Apart from that, everything is fair game! Whether it's installing a PHP CMS, writing function in ASP.NET, slicing a Photoshop image, or getting your CSS on, it doesn't matter. This is not limited to "back end" or "front end" development. All skill levels and abilities are welcome. See you there!

Also, If you are looking for help with a specific project or question, you can post a comment on the message board below. This way we can find someone to help you, or bring a book on the subject for reference.

Matt Hyatt will speak.

Also Gena will share all she knows about Dreamweaver ;-)

We will be meeting for and covering topics suggested at the July meeting and possible new business. Be prepared to share something about yourself.

Look for updates to the meeting and any volunteer presenters would be appreciated.

Please remember our host restaurant needs us to spend a minimum of $200 to keep the room reserved for our meetings. So, be prepared to buy a beer or have dinner while we network.

NOTE: NEW TIME: 6:00pm!!
NOTE2: WE ARE BACK AT HOPPY BREWING COMPANY

In the spirit of kicking the tough times in the behind, we are focusing on business related topics this month, with business oriented publications from three well-respected, highly experienced people. You don't want to miss this meeting!

Presentation 1: Joel D Canfield and Jerry Kennedy. The Best Place to Find Customers is in Your Head

The hunt for customers doesn't start with a good ad, a big marketing budget or a sharp close on your sales pitch. It starts in your head.

We'll talk about how you should be thinking, based on how your suspects, prospects and clients are thinking.

Joel D Canfield talks about building your business on the trust that comes from communication that's more human; the 'why to' portion of the presentation. He's been a web developer specializing in data tools since 1996 and is an author and speaker on business subjects, and co-founder of the Northern California Association of Entrepreneurs.

Jerry L Kennedy talks about HERO selling—what you should be thinking before you ever talk to a prospect; the 'how to' portion of the presentation. Jerry is the creator of the audio program "Motivation 101: Five Steps to Activate Your Potential in Any Economy," "Selling Points", a bi-monthly column in TLT Magazine and the co-host of the Sales Management 2.0 podcast.

Presentation 2: David Marsden: Turning Prospects into Customers

Synopsis: Using baseball as a metaphor, marketing consultant David Marsden shares his system for turning web site prospects into signed contract customers.

Bio: David Marsden, is a marketing consultant, owner of DM WebWorks, and member of the Sacramento Art Directors and Artists Club. Combining 11 years experience in corporate marketing (Clorox, DHL, Levi’s) and 15 years of work with startups, David has worked with dozens of businesses to create and execute marketing plans and to create or upgrade their Web sites.

The meeting will last from 6pm to 9pm. The room is reserved so we can close the doors and have some peace. Power is available and WiFi too.

Please remember our host restaurant needs us to spend a minimum of $200 to keep the room reserved for our meetings. So, be prepared to buy a beer or have dinner while we network. It would be helpful to order food and drinks directly from our waiter/waitress instead of at the counter. Thanks!

As always any comments or suggestion are welcomed.
