About The Sacramento Web Development Meetup Group

Sacramento Area Web Design Group
This group is designed to allow professionals in the web design business to network and share business and technical knowledge. We meet once per month, on the third Tuesday of each month, and are currently at Bricka Bracka studios at 2114 P street in downtown Sacramento.

Beginners are welcome and experts are encouraged to share knowledge. Many of our members have been designing sites professionally for five or more years. Collectively, we have a very wide range of clients including the State Assembly, Colleges, Doctors, law firms, lobbyists, merchants, rock stars, record labels, etc...

Typical Meeting Schedule
7:30pm - 7:45pm Meet and Socalize
7:45pm - 8:15pm First Presentation
8:15pm - 8:30pm Break/Socialize
8:30pm - 9:00pm Second Presentation/Book Reviews/Open Discussions

Fees and Dues
There are no fees or dues for this group. We have discussed accepting a $1 per meeting voluntary donation in order to provide refreshments.

Presentation Topics
Based on a recent poll of members, the top five business topics requested were:


  • Advertising and/or Finding Customers
  • Setting Rates and Contracts
  • User Research: Why do your customers need websites
  • Managing Scope Creep
  • Writing Proposals

Based on a recent poll of members, the top five technical topics requested were:

  • SEO and tracking results (e.g. Google Analytics)
  • Web Standards and CSS
  • CMS related topics (e.g. Drupal, Joomla, EZ Publish, Sava)
  • Best Practices: Version Control, Unit testing, Wireframing, etc
  • General Programming Topics (Agile, Object Oriented, MVC, Design Patterns)



Speaker Guidelines
We welcome business and technical topic speakers of all experience levels . See the polls page for information on topics are members are interested in. We have a projector available for speakers to use, and can arrange to provide a laptop that connects to the projector if you don't have one available. Speakers are asked to provide the following information for their presentation at least two weeks prior to their speaking date:

  • Presentation Title
  • Synopsis: 50-200 words describing your talk, and why it is valuable to our members
  • Bio (Optional): 50-200 words describing your qualifications, history and interests.
